Dr. Narayan's policy priorities

The Importance of Good and Responsible Municipal Governance

Municipal governance plays a critical role in shaping the everyday lives of residents. From waste management and urban planning to public safety and community services, the decisions made at the local level directly impact our neighborhoods. This is why good and responsible governance is not just a goal—it’s a necessity.

At the heart of effective municipal leadership lies accountability, transparency, and a strong ethical foundation. Communities thrive when their elected officials prioritize the public good over personal interest, follow established rules, and actively work to build trust between the government and the people.

Ritesh is the most experienced member of the current city council in Chestermere. Time and again, Ritesh has demonstrated what ethical governance truly means. He has not hesitated to call out inappropriate behavior or hold fellow council members accountable when rules were bent or broken. His consistent insistence on transparency and adherence to proper procedures has not only set a high standard but also reinforced public confidence in the council's decisions.

Ritesh’s leadership reminds us that experience, when guided by integrity and a commitment to ethical conduct, is invaluable in public service. His example serves as a benchmark for current and future council members and underscores why good governance at the municipal level is essential for a functioning, fair, and forward-moving community. Chestermere is in a good place, and it needs experienced and steady hands to navigate its governance for the next four years.

Building a Stronger Chestermere: Prioritizing Roads and Infrastructure

Infrastructure is the backbone of any thriving city, and in Chestermere, the need to invest in roads, bridges, and transportation networks has never been more urgent. As our community continues to grow, so does the pressure on our existing infrastructure. Safe, efficient, and well-maintained roads are essential not only for daily commutes, but also for emergency response, economic development, and quality of life.

Twinning Chestermere Boulevard is one of the city’s most critical infrastructure needs—and Ritesh is committed to making it a top priority. This major corridor is vital to the flow of traffic in and out of the city, and twinning it will reduce congestion, improve safety, and support future growth. But it's not just about adding lanes—it's about planning for the long-term.

That long-term vision includes the eventual replacement of the existing bridge on Chestermere Boulevard. This key piece of infrastructure must be addressed through careful, forward-looking planning that ensures safety and sustainability for decades to come.

Ritesh strongly believes that infrastructure must come before buildings. As Chestermere expands, the focus must remain on building the foundation—literally—for the future. Investing in roads, transportation, and essential services now will prevent costly fixes later and set the city up for smart, responsible growth.

With experience, foresight, and a commitment to putting infrastructure first, Ritesh will continue pushing for the development our city needs to stay strong, connected, and prepared for what’s ahead.

Investing in Chestermere’s Future: The Need for More Schools

As Chestermere continues to grow, so does the demand for more schools. Families are choosing to call this city home, and our education infrastructure must keep pace. Building new schools isn’t just about classroom space—it’s about ensuring our children have access to quality education close to where they live, and creating strong, supportive communities.

Ritesh has been a dedicated voice on council in advocating for new schools in Chestermere. Thanks to the work of council, our local school trustee, Shali Ramdeen-Baziuk, and MLA Chantelle de Jonge, several key projects are already in progress:

  • The Franco Stud School will be opening in the fall of 2025
  • Construction has begun on a new K-9 Catholic School
  • Funding has been secured for a new K-9 Public school
  • Planning funding has been secured for a new public high school

But there is still more work to do.

Neighbourhoods like Waterford, Clearwater, and Bridgeport are rapidly growing and urgently need new schools. Continued investment in these areas is critical, and Ritesh remains committed to pushing for the funding and planning needed to make it happen.

Strong partnerships are key to turning these plans into reality. Ritesh has cultivated a respectful and productive relationship with the Rocky View School Division trustee, who has been actively listening to council and advocating for more schools in Chestermere. Additionally, Ritesh’s long-standing and respectful relationships with provincial government officials have proven invaluable in advancing the city’s educational needs.

In government, relationships matter—and they cannot be built overnight. Ritesh’s ability to work constructively with stakeholders, trustees, and provincial leaders is a key asset in securing the future of education in Chestermere.

A growing city needs growing support. Ritesh will continue to advocate for new schools where they are needed most—because every child in Chestermere deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed close to home.

Honouring Our Seniors, Strengthening Our Community

Our older adults are the backbone of Chestermere. They have worked hard, raised families, contributed to our economy, and helped shape the city we enjoy today. Their legacy deserves to be honored—not just with words, but with real action and meaningful support.

When Ritesh first campaigned in 2017, he listened closely to the voices of seniors and heard a clear message: Chestermere needed more diverse housing options for older adults to downsize and retire close to home, family, and friends. He took that message to heart—and to Council.

Ritesh became a key advocate in bringing AgeCare to Chestermere, helping to fill a critical gap in local care services. This facility will provide essential support for our aging population while creating over 200 jobs in our community. But Ritesh didn’t stop there—he also pushed for developers to include diverse, senior-friendly housing options in new communities so older adults can remain independent, comfortable, and close to what matters most.

Understanding that aging well also means staying socially connected, Ritesh worked with the City to create senior-friendly shelters and gathering spaces—places where older adults can meet, socialize, and continue to participate in the life of the community they helped build.

Ritesh believes our city must continue to grow in a way that includes and values its older residents—ensuring they have the support, housing, and opportunities they deserve.

For a Chestermere that cares for those who helped build it—Re-elect Ritesh.

Investing in Our Youth, Building a Safer Future

Our youth are the future of Chestermere—and they deserve a community that supports, protects, and empowers them to grow into confident, responsible adults. Ritesh has always made youth safety and engagement a top priority.

As a father who raised two boys right here in Chestermere, Ritesh understands firsthand the importance of keeping our youth safe, active, and connected. He believes that when young people are engaged—through recreation, part-time work, and community programs—they are less likely to face risks and more likely to thrive.

Ritesh has been a strong supporter of local youth organizations like Synergy, recognizing the critical role they play in providing mentorship, programming, and a safe space for teens to belong. He knows that prevention and support are just as important as enforcement.

In 2020, Ritesh took a bold step by introducing a motion in Council that led to the creation of Chestermere’s Anti-Bullying Bylaw—a landmark initiative that sends a clear message: bullying has no place in our community. This bylaw is not just about consequences; it’s about building a culture of respect, empathy, and accountability among our youth.

Ritesh continues to advocate for recreation opportunities, youth employment, and inclusive community spaces where young people can grow, lead, and make positive contributions. He believes that investing in our youth is investing in Chestermere’s long-term safety and success.

Safe, supported, and engaged youth make for a stronger community. Re-elect Ritesh to keep building that future.

Lake Health and Lake Living

Chestermere Lake is more than just a body of water—it’s the heart of our city, a place for families to gather, kids to play, and residents to enjoy the beauty and serenity of lake living. It defines who we are as a community and is one of the most treasured features of Chestermere life.

Ritesh understands the importance of protecting the lake’s health and preserving its beauty for future generations. Clean water, safe beaches, and responsible use are essential to maintaining this incredible asset—not just for recreation, but for the environment and the economy as well.

Ritesh has been a strong advocate for lake stewardship, supporting efforts to keep our beaches clean, reduce pollution, and manage the lake responsibly. He believes that respect for the lake also means respect for those who live around it. The lakefront community is a special part of Chestermere, with its own character, covenants, and expectations. Ritesh is committed to ensuring that the City honors those agreements and works with residents to maintain the unique quality of life that lake living provides.

Balancing public access with private property rights requires thoughtful leadership—and Ritesh brings that balance to the table. He supports education, enforcement, and collaboration to make sure that everyone—whether visiting for the day or living on the shore—enjoys the lake responsibly and respectfully.

The lake is Chestermere’s jewel—let’s protect it, respect it, and keep it thriving. Re-elect Ritesh.

A Stronger Chestermere Through Recreation

Recreation is more than just facilities—it’s about community, wellness, opportunity, and the future of Chestermere. For years, Ritesh has been a tireless advocate for increasing recreational opportunities in our city. As a current member of Council, Ritesh has helped achieve what many thought was impossible—laying the foundation for a healthier, more connected Chestermere.

Ritesh has long championed the City’s ownership of key recreational lands. Thanks to his persistence, Chestermere is now in the process of purchasing the current recreation centre, ensuring that it remains a public asset for generations to come.

When the Lakeside Golf Club was at risk of being rezoned for residential development, Ritesh stood firmly with the community. His advocacy helped prevent that rezoning, preserve our green space, and ultimately secure the purchase of the golf course. This bold move not only protected the aesthetics of surrounding neighbourhoods but also expanded our city’s potential for future recreational use.

Ritesh’s leadership continues as a member of the Mayor’s Task Force for Recreation. He is helping lead efforts to build a new, state-of-the-art recreation facility in the Dawson/Chelsea area. Phase One of this transformative project includes an aquatic centre, gymnasiums, courts, walking tracks, and community meeting rooms. Phase Two will see the addition of a FIFA-sized indoor fieldhouse—meeting the growing needs of youth, families, and athletes in our city.

From his time on the recreation committee (2018–2021; 2024-Present)  to today, Ritesh has shown a deep understanding of the planning, funding, and engagement required to deliver large-scale community projects. His experience and commitment are unmatched.

These projects are not yet complete—and now, more than ever, Chestermere needs proven leadership to see them through. Ritesh is dedicated to making sure every family has access to quality recreation close to home. Re-elect Ritesh to continue building a Chestermere that prioritizes wellness, inclusion, and quality of life for all.

Safe Streets, Strong Communities

Safety is the foundation of a thriving community. Every resident deserves to feel secure in their home, their neighbourhood, and throughout the city. Ritesh understands that public safety isn't just about reacting to crime—it's about smart planning, prevention, and having the right resources in place.

With a background in criminal justice and law, Ritesh brings a deep understanding of how to keep communities safe. His education, combined with years of hands-on experience, ensures that his approach to public safety is both informed and effective.

Since 2017, Ritesh has proudly served on Chestermere’s Police Committee, providing oversight and direction to local policing efforts. He has consistently championed for more officers on the ground, ensuring timely response times and greater visibility in our neighbourhoods. He believes that proactive policing, community engagement, and well-supported law enforcement are essential to keeping Chestermere one of the safest places to live in Alberta.

But safety doesn’t stop with enforcement. Ritesh supports programs that address root causes, engage youth, and build strong community relationships. Whether it’s supporting mental health resources, advocating for preventative initiatives, or ensuring first responders have the tools they need, Ritesh has always stood for a safer, more resilient Chestermere.

His experience, commitment, and long-standing service on the Police Committee make him the right person to continue leading these efforts. With Ritesh on Council, Chestermere’s safety remains a top priority—not just in words, but in action.

Safe communities don’t happen by chance—they’re built with leadership. Re-elect Ritesh.

Strong Public Transit for a Stronger Chestermere

In 2021, I proudly advocated for bringing Calgary Transit to Chestermere. We knew then—as we know now—that reliable, accessible public transportation is essential for our city’s growth, sustainability, and quality of life.

As your councillor, I remain deeply committed to this cause. Whether it's getting to work or school in Calgary, running errands within Chestermere, or simply staying connected with surrounding communities—our residents deserve better transit options.

While discussions with Calgary Transit are ongoing, there are key steps that must fall into place, including the **twinning of Chestermere Blvd/17th Ave SE** and the **continued cooperation and readiness of Calgary Transit to expand services**.

What sets this effort apart is the trust and strong relationships I’ve built with members of Calgary City Council and administration. These relationships are critical in ensuring our voice is heard and our needs are prioritized.

🚦 A better-connected Chestermere means:

* Less traffic congestion

* More accessible jobs, education, and services

* Lower emissions and a greener future

* Greater independence for youth, seniors, and non-drivers

Let’s keep the momentum going. Let me continue being your voice at the table—championing progress, accessibility, and the future of Chestermere.

A Stronger Economy, A Stronger Chestermere

Sustainable economic development is key to building a thriving, balanced community—and Ritesh has been at the forefront of making it happen in Chestermere.

As a current member of Council, Ritesh threw his unequivocal support to bring Beacon Data Center to Chestermere, a transformative project that will create over 300 jobs and spark the growth of ancillary businesses that support innovation and technology. This is more than just a facility—it's a catalyst for long-term economic growth and diversification in our city.

Ritesh also played a pivotal role in attracting AgeCare to Chestermere. As part of an advocacy group during the 2017–2021 Council term, he worked to bring this essential service for older adults to our city. Now, AgeCare is not only filling a critical care gap for seniors, but is also creating over 200 local jobs, further strengthening our economy and healthcare system.

Ritesh understands that for Chestermere to grow responsibly, we must shift the tax burden off residents and onto a stronger commercial base. Attracting smart, community-aligned businesses helps ensure we can continue to invest in infrastructure, recreation, safety, and services—without placing the full weight on homeowners.

Economic development takes planning, advocacy, and leadership. Ritesh brings all three to the table, with a track record of results and a clear vision for Chestermere’s future. For jobs, investment, and a more balanced tax base—Re-elect Ritesh.

A Chestermere for Everyone

Diversity is one of Chestermere’s greatest strengths—and inclusion is how we make that strength matter. As a proud, multicultural city, we must ensure that every resident feels seen, heard, and valued—regardless of background, culture, language, or belief.

Ritesh has worked tirelessly to embed diversity and inclusion as core values in Chestermere’s vision. Through his leadership on Council, he has helped guide city policy and planning to reflect the diverse realities of the community we serve today—and the one we aspire to build for tomorrow.

A long-time community advocate, Ritesh is one of the founders of the Chestermere Multicultural Community Association, an organization dedicated to celebrating cultures, educating residents, and fostering a sense of unity in our growing city. He is also actively involved in several non-profit organizations that promote diversity education and outreach across the region.

Ritesh believes that belonging doesn’t happen by accident—it’s built through inclusive leadership, intentional decision-making, and community partnerships that lift every voice. In a city like Chestermere, where diversity is woven into our everyday lives, it’s essential that our policies, programs, and public spaces reflect that reality.

Re-elect Ritesh to continue building a city where inclusion isn’t just a value—it’s a lived experience.

One community, many cultures—stronger together with Ritesh.

A New Library for a Growing Community

Chestermere is growing—and so is our need for expanded community spaces. Nowhere is that more evident than in our public library. Once more than enough for a small town, our current library is now serving far beyond its intended capacity. It’s time for Chestermere to have a library that reflects the size, diversity, and future of our city.

Ritesh has been a strong and consistent advocate for a new public library. He supported adding the library to Chestermere’s off-site levies, ensuring that developers contribute to the cost of building a new, modern library facility. This was a crucial step in making a new library financially feasible and part of the city’s long-term growth planning.

But Ritesh knows that funding a new library isn’t just about levies—it’s about partnerships, advocacy, and political will. He is committed to continuing that advocacy: working with provincial and federal partners, community groups, and the library board to bring a new library to Chestermere sooner.

In the meantime, Ritesh believes we must continue to fully support our current library as it manages record-high usage with limited space and resources. Kudos to the dedicated staff and volunteers who continue to do more with less—but they shouldn’t have to do it alone. The City must stand behind them with ongoing support and investment.

Libraries are more than books—they are community hubs, learning centres, and safe spaces for all ages. Ritesh will ensure that Chestermere gets the modern library it deserves.

East/North Acreages

It’s Time to Deliver for the East and North Acreages – Re-Elect Ritesh

The residents of Chestermere’s East and North Acreages have waited long enough. Since these communities were annexed, they have been left in limbo—facing unnecessary delays, unclear processes, and barriers to subdividing and developing their own land. These are long-standing residents who have contributed to our city, paid their taxes, and played by the rules. They deserve better.

Ritesh is the most experienced candidate on Council and has a deep understanding of the unique challenges and nuances facing the East and North Acreages. He knows that real solutions require more than promises—they require political will, informed leadership, and a genuine commitment to getting things done.

Enough is enough. Ritesh will continue to be a strong advocate for the Acreages community. He is committed to working with residents, city administration, and regional partners to finally cut through the red tape and deliver real progress. These families should have the opportunity to subdivide, develop, and plan their futures—just like any other part of Chestermere.

Ritesh believes in fairness, transparency, and action—not more delays. It’s time for Chestermere to fulfill the promise made when these lands were annexed.

For leadership that listens, understands, and fights for results—Re-elect Ritesh.

Empowering Community Through Non-Profits

Strong communities are built on connection, compassion, and collaboration—and at the heart of Chestermere's community spirit are our non-profit organizations. From food support to youth programs, cultural initiatives to mental health services, these organizations are often the first to respond when residents are in need.

Ritesh has always believed that municipal government cannot—and should not—do it all alone. Our non-profits are essential partners in building a healthier, more inclusive, and more resilient Chestermere.

Throughout his time on Council, Ritesh has been a vocal advocate and active volunteer with many local non-profit organizations. He understands the critical role they play and has consistently supported their work—whether through policy, funding advocacy, or simply showing up to lend a hand.

Ritesh knows that when the city collaborates with non-profits, we multiply our impact. We reach more people. We respond faster. We strengthen the social fabric that holds our city together.

He is committed to ensuring that Chestermere continues to support, recognize, and partner with local non-profits—not just during crises, but as a long-term strategy for building community well-being.

By re-electing Ritesh, you're choosing a leader who values grassroots action, who understands the power of partnership, and who believes in uplifting those who uplift others.

Together with our non-profits, we build a stronger Chestermere. Re-elect Ritesh.
